How do personal alarm devices work?
Personal alarms for the elderly are wearable devices that can be pressed at any time to alert others that they are in distress. They are a form of practical protection used by seniors to call for help when they’ve had a fall or an emergency. ADT’s NevaAlone Alarms and Emergency Call Units are designed to be easily accessible and usable, so the people in your care have no trouble calling for help.
When the personal alarm button is pressed, the device will contact our 24-hour ADT monitoring centre like a telephone. Through a two-way speaker, our team can determine the situation and take the appropriate steps to contact designated emergency contacts or emergency services if needed. If the ADT team can’t communicate with your loved one through the speaker, they will follow the established emergency procedure.
How effective are personal alarms for the elderly?
Imagine a personal alarm as a form of self defence. Kiwis have relied on personal alarms for decades because they’re a proven method of minimising dangerous threats and saving lives.
Personal alarms are a sensible precaution, to invest in the safety of your elderly loved ones, even if they never get used. ADT’s minimalist wearable personal alarms ensure that your loved ones always have access to help without the device being a burdensome eyesore.
Is a personal alarm system difficult to install?
Not at all. ADT will conduct a free home assessment before you get your alarm, and our expert installation team will set it up after you sign up. ADT’s personal alarm system also comes with an easy-to-follow instruction guide.
Are personal alarms just for the elderly?
No, ADT’s personal alarms can be used to provide peace of mind and independence for any loved one whether they are elderly, live with a medical condition or disability.
